Dentist and a family day.

Callums teeth have been very crooked for quite a few years but the dentist has been very reluctant to give him braces because of his age and giving his mouth time to grow and his teeth time to straighten.
He had an appointment on Saturday morning and it seems the dentist can wait no longer.
The bad news is that he's got to have four teeth out between now and the end of October and then after having time for his mouth to heal he will be fitted for braces in the New Year which he will have to wear for two and a half years. He will then have to wear a retainer at night for a while.
He was not a happy lad!!
There are quite a few things he'll not be able to eat and drink whilst he has the braces on either as it's hard to clean your teeth properly and certain things can stain your teeth under the braces.
Poor thing, what with his back operation looming and now this, it doesn't seem to be his year!
Today my sister came round with my nephew unexpectedly and had a quick lunch with us and as we were going to my Mums they came with us.
So it was tea and cakes all round!
Malc has extra work on this week and so has gone out delivering with three of the boys.
I had a lovely soak in the bath and am currently being entertained by Cody doing forward somersaults and handstands  as he's been influenced by watching "Tumble" last night.
Peter Duncan is sixty! Who knew?!
I'm leaving you with the latest puppy blanket I've crocheted for my Mum.
I can't wait for Mum to pick her up and then I can take a picture of her snuggled up in it. Only two weeks!

  1. What a lovely blanket, that didn't take you long. Poor Callum, it never rains but it pours. Eleanor's second teeth are still only just coming through and she's 16, I was exactly the same. She's been going to the orthodontist for years now and they keep saying they'll be through eventually. Daniel knocked one of his front teeth out when he fainted in a Biology lesson at school. He's got it crowned now but what with that and a tooth growing sidewards in his gum resulting in an operation, it hasn't been much fun for him. Looking forward to seeing that gorgeous little puppy when she arrives.

    1. Thanks Jo. Callum's still got one of his first teeth too. My mum gets her puppy whilst we are away for a few days so we won't_be able to see it straight away :-(

    1. Thanks Sue. You really do have too much energy for a nearly 60 year old! You put me to shame!

  3. Have to admit that I was very surprised when they said Peter Duncan was 60 - he did very well!

    1. I hope I'm as athletic as that at 60. I'm certainly not at nearly 50!!

  4. Yes, it isn't Callum's year! The braces aren't all that bad--I had mine in only a few years ago. TePe brushes are brilliant for helping to clean in between the teeth and wires, as is a good tufted toothbrush. Good luck to him!

  5. Poor Callum! Let's hope he can pull through. There are some ways that he could alleviate the annoyance of his impending braces, and hopefully make adjusting to them much easier. I'm sure you've explained to him the benefits, so perhaps a little more prodding would help him understand. Good luck!
