An afternoon in

Not even going to talk about the weather! We didn't have any damage even though we've had really strong gusts of wind most of the night and all day today.
Malc and I woke at the normal time of just after 6-30 am. Let the dogs out, had a cuppa in bed, watched some news to see if anything other than the bad weather and Olympics are happening,  there isn't! Then we settled back down to sleep, the boys didn't wake until 9-30am so we all got up feeling very refreshed.
Malc forced   offered to show Eden how to make a late fried breakfast/ early lunch, which she did whilst tweeting. Then she snap chatted the pictures of it to her friends! I think she would actually lose the will to live if she was ever parted from her phone!
After clearing up we settled down to watch a film "The Philadelphia Experiment" It was really good, as usual I knitted away whilst watching and I've managed to finish this
I've just got to sew it together but I'm going to wait to do it tomorrow in the natural light, I hate sewing anyway let alone having to struggle in electric light! I don't know why but I find it really makes a difference.
After tea I'm going to start on another order I've received for bedsocks, the pattern is for double knit but I've got lots of cones of 4ply so I'm going to use two together to get the right thickness, it also mixes colours and some of them knit up really prettily.
This green and pink should look really nice once knitted together.
I'm off to nose around blogland to see how other people have spent the day!

  1. Daniel's phone screen has cracked so Mick had to make an emergency trip to York to take him an old phone to use while we try to get this one repaired. Goodness knows how they'd have gone on if they'd grown up in our day with only a phone box to use as a way to communicate if they were away from home. Glad you didn't suffer any damage in the storm. I was woken at 4am by the sound of hammering. I don't know where it was coming from or who was making it but it took me over an hour to get back to sleep. I think I'll be having an early night tonight. The pink and green yarn will look lovely together. The ripple blanket I'm crocheting for Eleanor is a mix of pink and greens and they look lovely together.

    1. Now Jo, ripple crochet is something I'm hoping to teach myself this year. It looks so lovely when it's done.
I keep telling Eden we use to sit on the stairs with the house phone with everybody listening in to our conversation! I didn't have a TV in my bedroom either, we all sat round in the lounge with parents shhhing if we talked to much during Corrie! They don't know they're born do they?!

  2. How do you knit so quickly?! It would take me a month of sundays to make a scarf for a doll!
I have a theory that humans will evolve to have a built in phone communication thing - although perhaps it's already happened to everyone under 25!

    1. Time spent knitting when I should be doing something else is how!
I think most under 25's already have something electronic attached to their ears! If it's not her phone it's her headphones!!

  3. Jumper is lovely and the pink and green will be so pretty together. Mobile phones!! Love em or hate em, my grandaughter is itching to have one but mum says its a special present for when she starts the comp in September. I remember standing in a almost windowless telephone box with my 4 pennies trying to ring a 'posh friend' who had a home phone, no wonder I love my mobile iphone! Xx

    1. Karen, I don't how my Mum ever let us four children out, mine aren't allowed unless they have a charged phone on them. So maybe I actually add to their addiction!

  4. I was wondering how my grandchildren would cope without their phones and Ipads etc. I was wittering on to my friend about this, while I was trawling through my emails, checking my blog for comments and popping into a farmgirl chatroom on facebook to see the latest. When I looked up from my laptop she was giving me the "pot/ kettle/black" look! oops!
