Out my front door, turn right and follow the pavement round the corner, stomp, stomp, stomp.
Cross the road, look left, look right, look left, look right.
Walk through the houses down the little lane and onto the field, squelch, squelch, squelch.
Follow the path around the water round to the other side and onto the next field, more squelch, squelch, squelching.
If you're very lucky you will get within 100ft of these beauties as Callum did this morning.
So lucky to get close, they are usually off like a shot. I love seeing them as it's easy to forget we have something so big walking around the countryside. Sadly not often spotted around us.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder of the deer/bear hunt rhyme, used to do that at playgroup and I had forgotten all about it
One of our favourite books Sue, along with The Gruffalo, The Gruffalos Child and all the Hairy Maclairy books x
DeleteMagnificent - what a treat!
ReplyDeleteCallum couldn't stop talking about them when he got back. X
DeleteHow wonderful to be able to get that close to them.
ReplyDeleteWe've seen them from a distance but the boys have never been that close to them before. X
DeleteLove to see deer, except for the ones that come in our yard and eat our plants.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be too impressed with that either!
DeleteOh wow! Beautiful creatures.
