We had sunshine!

Yesterday we had beautiful blue skies and warm sunshine. Malc and the two eldest boys managed to fix the fence panel and get it secure, it was much needed as the dog at the bottom of our garden got through a gap in our neighbours fence and then got through the gap in ours. It was a lovely bouncy spaniel who jumped up at my washing line and got all my washing covered in muddy footprints! Callum took him back home but the owners weren't in so he left him in their garden.
Later on before the panel was fixed our dogs were out and the spaniel poked his head round the broken fence at the bottom of his garden and my dogs were gone! It was party time with dogs  running round all three gardens! So the fence became a matter of urgency, I figured once the dogs had been through once they would be going through again now they knew the way.
Whilst they were repairing that, I made this

We had a roast dinner last night followed by a slice for pudding.
Eden had cell group at her church last night so she walked up to it as it is up the road where it's shut off to traffic and Malc and I took a dog each and walked up to meet her, which was lovely as the skies were lovely and clear and we had a romantic walk up the road which was eerily quiet with no cars going up and down,  looking at all the stars.
Today has been the usual beginning of the week housework, ironing and mundane stuff. Just off to make tea and see what's on TV tonight!

  1. You romantic pair! Actually, it's a change to be able to walk out without getting wet, though the rain's back again here now. Glad you managed to get the fence fixed, it sounds like the dogs were in high spirits with their new found freedom, they'll be upset to see it all back in place. Your cake looks scrummy. None for me at the moment, I'm trying to lose some weight.

    1. We have to put our boots and coats on in the downstairs loo so the dogs don't see us and then grab the dogs we are taking and take them outside to put their leads on before they or any of the other dogs realise what is happening!

  4. We dont have any pets but last year dog sat for my sons old deaf dog, he wanted a wee at 4am so I let him out into the garden, he promotly disappeared under the hedge into next doors garden and it was the devils own job to get him to come back. Funny now but not so funny at the time, me stood in my nighty in the garden shouting a deaf dog!! Poor thing is in doggy heaven now .

Cake looks gorgeous, I will pass on a slice just now, thank you, the toothache is still nagging!
    Have a lovely evening xx

    1. Karen, that's hilarious, although probably not so funny at the time as you say. Hope the toothache disappears, there's nothing worse! X

  5. Wow, impressive height to that sponge, even a small slice would be big, if you see what I mean. Makes me want to make a sponge tomorrow. - another 2lb on the hips!

  10. Sounds like the dogs had a grand old time. Delicious looking cake. I made cupcakes again yesterday to take over when we went to dinner at DD3s. Of course, there were some left at home for us too and, I have to admit, I ate 2. I really, really need to have a good eating week and totally cut out all treats for a few days so I can get back on track or I'll never get his last stone off.
